How the federal EV credit works (while available)

To qualify for the federal New Clean Vehicle Credit (30D) before it sunsets, a vehicle must be delivered by September 30, 2025, meet final assembly in North America, and satisfy battery sourcing rules. MSRP caps apply: $55,000 for cars and $80,000 for SUVs, pickups, and vans. Income limits: $150,000 (single), $225,000 (head of household), $300,000 (married filing jointly).

For used EVs (25E): price $25,000 or less, first transfer only, and income limits of $75,000 (single), $112,500 (head of household), $150,000 (married filing jointly).

Point‑of‑sale transfer: Since January 1, 2024, eligible buyers can transfer the credit to a registered dealer and take it immediately as a price reduction. Sport Subaru South can process this for qualifying customers and vehicles.

Important Subaru note: The Subaru Solterra has been assembled outside North America, so it has typically not qualified for the 30D new‑purchase credit.
